can't change screen resolution
My screen is set at 640 by 480 pixels. I can't change the screen resolution. I try to move the button but it won't move. I can not see the full screen on my computer. I have to minimize the screen and use the arrow to see the whole screen when I am on a website.

I know this is an obvious procedure to probably 99.9% of the people on these forums, but I am not experienced with the windows operating system. I'm fixing my brothers computer, and am having the same problem as the person who originally posted this problem. Basically I'm wondering, how does one uninstall and reinstall the video drivers? Thanks.

This is an elaborately explaining hw to uinstall/reinstall video drivers.
Right click my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager button>in the device manager click on + sign next to display adapters>right click on whatever appears>uinstall.
restart the system.
Get back on the desktop. Put in the disc which says dell dimension resource cd. Next button on the screen which says welcme dell system owner and then on the next screen select the right system model, right os and under topic select drivers. Now a list of drivers appear on the right hand side of the window. Under video drivers click on the driver which has a check against it. Scroll down that page and click on Extract button and just continue the setup by hitting the appropriate Ok, NEXT or the OPEN button whichever is applicable on that screen.
Your system will restart and the video drivers are uinstalled and reinstalled. as simple as that

I did everything you said, but when I got to the device manager screen, there was no category called display adapters. There are few drivers that are not installed/unrecognized, these are:
-Multimedia Audio Controller
-SM Bus Controller
-Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
Will any of these affect what I'm trying to accomplish (Change the res)? Thanks for the help you gave earlier.

mike then I'm sorry to say there are no drivers installed on this computer. Call into dell T/s and get all the drivers install. They need to install
1. Intel Chipset drivers...... smbus controller
2. Video drivers ....... vga drivers
3. Audio/sound drivers ..... corresponding to mutimeda audio
and then everything is fine. Just for info if in the device manager if you see a Yellow question mark or against any device means that the drivers for the device are not installed properly and if you see a yellow exclamation mark means that there is a driver conflict. And yes if the video drivers are not installed then you won't even see anything that says display adapters in the device manager
