CRT vs LCD

i am in the process of getting a new computer i would like an LCD monitor but i have 2 little kids who will use it age 2 & 4 and they like to put their hands on it and touch it. should i stick with the CRT for now or is the LCD monitor going to handle this abuse also is their any protective covers that can be placed on the lcd monitors, any help would be appreciated thanks.
