DDM, not working with CKLau KVM

I have a Dell U3818DW that I have used with 4 different computers through a KVM for over a year without any problems.

I got a new Dell XPS 8940 desktop and it would not connect to the monitor through the KVM as the KVM was too old.  So I got a new CKLau KVM (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HRBBLWN) to see if that solved the problem.  It did. I am now able to get the new computer and all prior to connect to the U3818DW through the KVM.

However, while the machines are displaying on the U3818DW, when I try to start DDM (Dell Display Manager), I get:

The program cannot communicate with any supported Dell Monitors. Check your display driver, cables, and connections.

I get the same message on all 4 desktops and these (with the exception of the new one that required a new KVM to connect to the monitor at all) were able to use DDM previously.

I welcome and appreciate any insights or troubleshooting recommendations.

Thanks,

Scott

I purchased a new KVM with DDC/CI support and that solved the problem.  I got an IOGEAR GCS1934.  Thank you!

DDM requires a robust DDC/CI connection, which most KVMs do not provide: it is more costly and can require amplification. Check your KVM specs - if the manufacturer supports DDC/CI they will list it as supported. If they doesn't mention DDC/CI, they do not support it.

That is excellent information.  Thank you.

I had an 8 year old IOGEAR in the past that worked well with DDM.  I went ahead and ordered their https://www.iogear.com/product/GCS1934H KVM hoping it will also work.

Their support was unable to tell me if it had DDC/CI or not, but fingers crossed.

I'll know shortly.

Thank you!
