Dell 24 inch monitor

I'm interested in upgrading my monitor to the Dell 24 inch widescreen UltraSharp Model 2405FPW. I've already verified that my video/graphics card can handle this but as it's a big investment and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this monitor that they want to comment on, before I take the leap. Thanks, Tubbman.

I just got mine in last week, and it is very nice.  My eyes got vey big as I started to pull it out of the box. It is huge.  I have it set at max resolution, and it is like having 2 monitors next to each other. I can easily have 2 web pages side by side. I haven't had much chance to play any games, or amything else, but what I have done this monitor is a good replacement to my 21" crt.

Just make sure you set the resolution to its native, and nothing else or you will not get a good viewing pleasure

Just received my 2405 last night... stayed-up most of the night playing with it.  It is a fabulous piece of machinery.  Mine shipped with no flaws and works perfectly via VGA cable to my IBM thinkpad.  I'm extremely impressed with the ability to have several windows open at the same time.   And I"m blown away with watching widescreen DVD's.

Nope.. no necessary software necessary .  Up until yesterday, my routine involved 'clicking' on an application, e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Photoshop etc. etc. and hit the "Full Screen" button so that the application takes-up the entire monitor.. then I would switch between the applications using the toolbar at the bottom of my screen.    Looking at the applications in 'full screen' mode on my new 2405 monitor is just rediculous !!  The screen size is over three-times larger than  my old monitor and the applications are just too HUGE.  By re-sizing the applications, I could easily fit, for example, three WORD documents on the same screen.. It's just fabulous to do internet research in one window and type a document in the next.  It will take some time (and mouse dexterity) to learn how to properly re-size your application 'windows'.

Thanks for the input Dingram. Sounds like you're very happy with the unit. Let me ask what is maybe a silly question. When you describe having different apps on screen simultaneously does this require special software? Thanks again for your comments.
