Dell 3007WFP-HC : S-MVA (or S-PVA) LCD panel instead of S-IPS one ?!
Hello,
I live in FRANCE.
I've just bought a Dell 3007WFP-HC at Dell FRANCE (by phone).
I've got a REV.A02.
I'm almost sure it does NOT use a S-IPS LCD panel, but a S-MVA (or S-PVA) one :
*Viewing angles are below average; black quickly becomes grayish.
*Sub-pixels shape ("boomerangs") is typical of S-MVA/S-PVA LCD panel; see here : http://webzeb.perso.free.fr/Boomerang.jpg I'm really disappointed.
The choice of a S-IPS LCD panel was critical for me (I need wide viewing angles).
Moreover, the LCD panel is different from the one the monitors reviewed by press use : not very fair play Dell !
Has anyone the same problem ?
Does anyone know which LCD panel is used in REV.A02 ? I think it's a CMO M300F1 (http://www.cmo.com.tw/opencms/cmo/products/monitor/products_monitor_M300F1.html?__locale=en); S-MVA panel would explain the very poor viewing angles...
Regards,
Fred

I've a Viewsonic VX2025wm too (AUOptronics S-MVA LCD panel), and sub-pixels are "boomerangs"...
Moreover, viewing angles look really narrow for a S-IPS LCD panel.
I've a Nec S-IPS monitor at work, and the behavior of the screen is REALLY different !

We only use LPL S-IPS panels on the 3007s.

CMO (Chi Mei Optoelectronics) does too (M300F1 LCD panel) :
http://www.cmo.com.tw/opencms/cmo/products/monitor/products_monitor_M300F1.html?__locale=en
It's S-MVA, whose viewing angles are inferior to S-PVA (and obviously S-IPS).

So why viewing angles are so narrow ?!
The simple fact of being close to the monitor (50~60cm) makes the corners grayish, and it's not due to backlight but viewing angles.
I never saw such a problem with an S-IPS panel, and even for a S-PVA it would be quite bad.
If all 3007WFP-HC use S-IPS panel, I do not understand...

Fred

webzeb: You could try sending that picture directly to LG Phillips and ask them if it's right.

Please let us know if you hear back from them.

Then compare that with what you perceive when you are close to the monitor and looking out to the corners. It should be the same.
The reason you don't perceive this on the other S-IPS panels is because you seldom sit 15 cm away from your 23" and look up to the corner. Go to an apple store and check out their 23" models up close and see for yourself.
...assuming those 23" are still S-IPS at Apple...
