Dell 3007WFP Not Working :(

Question

I bought a 3007WFP from eBay and I cannot get it to display an image from my PC. When I turn the monitor on it starts black then graduates to 100% white then goes back to black, then red, green and blue. It then cycles like this until I plug in the DVI.

When I plug in the DVI, the power light goes from blue to red and nothing appears. I have an AGP nVidia 7600GS card which I believe is Dual Link capable (double checked with PNY support) however, even if the card wasn't dual link I would expect the monitor to downsample to 1080P resolution?

Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like it's in 'burn in' mode that would be enabled in the service menu. You need to turn it off. As a reminder, Dell screens allow you to access the hidden ‘factory’ OSD menu to find out some additional information about your screen. Here is how to do it; it will become important later on… 1- Turn off your screen, while your computer is still on. 2- Press simultaneously the 'Menu' and '+' button of the screen. 3- While holding the 2 buttons, press now the 'Power' button. Now let go. 4- Once the screen in ON, let go of the 3 buttons. 5- Just press the '-' button. 6- Press menu again to exit hidden menu. When you acess the service menu you'll see info similar to this (this is a 2407 menu) V1B20 HN208 (#’s from another A03 Exit Menu Auto color: Press Menu ACC: OFF(-) On(+) Burnin mode: OFF(-) On(+) Reset timer: Press Menu You need to turn off burn in here. Your 3007 has less buttons than a 2407 so maybe someone here can tell you how to get into the service menu or just call Dell and ask. Message Edited by all the facts on 10-10-2006 06:11 PM

I bought an ATI X1600AGP which is dual link enabled, same result. The screen is black and the power button is either red or blue. When I unplug the screen from my PC I get the self test screens.

The monitor DOES NOT show ANY text based stuff (bios, SCSI card) and it wont show any lower resolutions.

Your 3007 has less buttons than a 2407 so maybe someone here can tell you how to get into the service menu or just Call Dell and Ask.

At this point I am more concerned with whether the monitor should display an output at all? granted it has a high native resolution that needs a dual link card to run BUT can it display lower resolutions out of a single link graphics card???

Mark, how did this turn out for you? It would help others if you could give an update. My 3007 acted the same way yours did, and I still have not resolved it. So I thought bumping this back up and hearing your resolution might help.

The model is not in burn in mode, it only cycles thru colors when its NOT connected to DVI, not when it is.   Nobody I ve spoken to, including Chris M. knows how to access the technician menu in the 3007WFP, in fact the concensus is that there is NO tech menu.   The unit will display 1280x800 out of a single card, but that is it. Make sure, by pluggin in another monitor, that your display res in windows is set to 1280x800 at 60hz, the first time you plug in the 3007WFP. This model doesn't have a scaler which means you have to provide it with exactly one of two resolutions:   1280x800 @ 60hz (single link) 2560x1600 @ 60hz (dual link)   Once you establish that connection and you get the desktop, then you can use your video card to scale to any resolution under the sun, up to 2560x1600.
