Dell S2409W Scan Rates
Been using this monitor as a cheap HDTV for my 360 and am thinking about using a VGA switch to have both TV and 360 set up on it. Looking at a Scart to VGA syncblaster cable to go from my RGB supported DVD Recorder to the monitor but this requires the screen to support a Horizontal Scan Rate of 15.625KHz. Will this monitor support this or am I going to have to use seperate screens? Thanks

Hi mate. I am in the same possition as you. I am looking to get the same screen as you and planning to use it for my Playstation3. Not only that but i want to plug my FreeView box into it as well. I have found the same cable as you from Maplin, but there are loads of other Scart to VGA cables but reviews have said the cheaper ones do not work.
I am going to ask Dell whether this screen has more than 15.625KHz.
COuld i ask how is the screen? are you happy with it? The price is amazing for a 1080p screen.
I will try and find the information, as soon as i hear something or find something i will let you know. But i hope this cable wil work because its £60 which seems alot but may be worth the money if it works.

Having contacted the company selling the cable (http://www.keene.co.uk), I've since learned that the cable won't work through a VGA switch which means changing the cable over is going to be a pain. I've decided to stick with my old TV in order to view television and that way I don't risk any stretching or definition issues with SKY +. Its also a lot cheaper.
As a gaming screen it is very good. I can't use HDMI with my 360 as it (the 360) is an older model and doesn't have that output. I use VGA for that and when scaled to 1080p the image is very crisp as long as you are willing to tweak it so it is just right. My PS3 is connected via HDMI and is also just as good as long as you tweak the settings to get it best you can. The Auto-adjust function works well enough but to get the best out of it you will need to play with it and that can be laborious if you switch between 2 images a lot.
If you sit too far away from it though it does tend to be a little small. This only really applies to gaming but i tend to sit about 3M max from the screen and it serves my needs well. Any further and it can be difficult to use due to the height from top to bottom being fairly small. If you want a longer range screen then i'd suggest a bigger one and then you are going into HDTV price range. As a closer range screen though i love it, even though it can be annoying to have to input certain settings each time. If you aren't that fussy though the auto-adjust does the job well enough. If you have to have your freeview going through it then i'd put the money from the cable towards a HDTV. The response times may not be as good but compatibility will be a god send. Most games aren't capable of true 1080p anyway.
