Dell S2740L goes into powers saving mode

I just purchased my monitor from Best Buy in March 2013 and was working great until about a week ago when it would just go blank on its own. Sometimes there would be a waring saying "going into power saving mode" other times it would just go blank. I changed the DVI cable yesterday think it was the cable and it working for a whole day before it just did it again. I ran the dell monitor diagnostic and it ran through all the colors and text without a problem.

So, since it does not seem like it is a problem with the monitor, could it be the input plug for the DVI that could be causing the problem, my video card, the video card output plugs?  Has anyone else had this same problem?

Hi nasdaqyc,

Please try using the monitor with a different system and check if the monitor exhibits the same behavior.

You may try to use the system with an alternate monitor to identify whether monitor is at fault or the system is having issues.

You may also update the video drivers of the system that you are using with the monitor.

If the issue persists, please reply with the system model and the video card being used with the monitor. Will take it forward from there.

Please reply with the information. I would be glad to help you.

Hi nasdaqyc,

Please share the model number of monitor and the model number of the system in question. Will take it further from there.

I figured it out. I just removed the Dell monitor driver and everything works fine now.

Hi nasdaqyc,

I am glad the issue is fixed. It seems that Windows have picked up the generic drivers for monitor and that might have fixed the issue. Thank you for informing us about the resolution.

Please reply if you have any further questions.
