Dell U3011 makes buzzing/humming sound when brightness < 90

Hi guys!

I've seen this has been touched upon before here and there with Dell monitors, but I'm hoping to get a definitive answer.

If I set my Dell U3011's brightness to less than 90, the monitor starts to emit a rather audible high-pitched humming noise around from the back.
I tried adjusting all of the monitor colour/display settings as well as removing all of the cables bar the power cable, however none of these had any effect (aside from the brightness setting).

Has anyone else noticed this with their Dell U3011s? Is this pretty much a fact of the design (I'm guessing 30" requires a massive power transformer), or is this potentially a fault covered under warranty?

I can probably get by by keeping the monitor at 90 and then setting the monitor contrast down to counter it, but I just want to make sure I haven't received a faulty monitor.

Thanks for your time!

Was this a New or Refurbished purchase? Look at the label on the rear of the U3011. What is the PPID number and revision? I have not heard of buzzing at Brightness of 76 or higher. Another user had this same issue and got a replacement which did not have the issue. You should contact Dell Technical Support for your country. They will need the following data -
Email Address:
Name:
Shipping Address:
Phone Number:
Monitor Service Tag number:
Monitor 20 digit PPID number:

Hi Chris!

It's a completely new model. Less than 2 weeks out of the box.

The PPID is CN-0PH5NY-74445-17S-026L and the revision is A04.

Oh really? Oh wow okay then. That definitely sounds like it must be a fault then. I'll contact Dell Support and have it looked into straight away.

Thanks a lot for your help!
