Dual VGA Monitors
I purchased a Dimension 8400 (item 221-5710) via telephone; with dual 17 inch monitors (item 320-3834). The sales representative failed to advise me that I would need to also purchase additional equipment in order for both monitors to be attached to one computer. After searching dell.com I found this item: DVI-VGA Adapter Manufacture Part# 6H514 Dell Part# 320-1615. My question: will this part enable dual VGA monitors to operate correctly attached to a single computer that has only one VGA connector on the back and one white connector that I think is a DVI-I connector. Any advice with this matter will be greatly appreciated.

I also just bought an 8400. I have a Dell 21" Trinitron that's about 2 1/2 years old, so I bought the 8400 with the standard 17" monitor to use in a dual setup. Works great. The adapter attaches to the white connector on the video card, then the cable from the second monitor attaches to the adapter. Fire up the system, and then set your display properties for two monitors. Two choices I think:
Clone, which gives the same on both monitors; i.e., 2 desktops.
Extended, which allows you to have your desktop extended across both monitors.
I use extended mode. When I use Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, as examples, I have all the palettes on the second monitor, with the main application window on the main monitor.
