E2016H, Cable Adapter, laptop HDMI out

I am buying a Dell 20 Monitor E2016H Monitor, which comes with a DP cable (I am assuming it is a male end, the monitor's tech specs page does not specify beyond "DP Cable").  My laptop (Dell Inspiron 14 5458, Windows 10) does not have a DP port, but it does have an HDMI port (female).  I am having trouble finding an adapter that will allow me to hook up my monitor to my laptop.  I have seen DP male to HDMI female adapters on the Dell online shop, Walmart, Amazon, etc, but I am not sure that will work since my computer has an HDMI female port on it.  Would I need to buy the DP male to HDMI female adapter and get a separate HDMI male to female adapter?  I have not seen any DP female to HDMI male adapters.  I do not know anything about DP ports, this is the first time I have heard of them.

You will need an active converter to convert the laptop HDMI out signal to monitor DP in signal. Those are not inexpensive.

Video card HDMI out --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> HDMI in to DP out converter --> DP to DP cable --> Monitor DP in

The monitor resolution is maxed at 1600x900 so it would be cheaper to get a straight HDMI to VGA cable and use the VGA on the monitor.

Laptop HDMI out --> HDMI to VGA adapter --> VGA to VGA cable --> Monitor VGA in
