E770s sync out of range problem

Question

What are the best settings for my Dell E770s monitor.  I have a Dell Dem III L667r, win 98, 2nd edition.  Thanks for any response

Note:  I posted this because when i experimented and tried to set monitor to max screen area i get a display on screen showing ...sync out of range.  also when i set settings higher than 800x600 my screen gets smaller.  is that normal?

You can find the specs on your E770 monitor at this link:

It is normal for the monitor to display a "sync out of range" error if the refresh rate is too high or if the screen color depth and resolution are set too high for the monitor to handle.
