E773c, onscreen menu control boxes randomly appear/very buggy
My desktop is 2 years old and i use the e773c monitor.
An on-screen menu box randomly appears in red text that says "contrast 100" and there is the red slider box in the middle.
Sometimes a box appears in blue text that says "luminance/temperatura".
These boxes usually disappear after 5-30 seconds, sometimes a few minutes.
That is the problem I am trying to fix.
When I go into the monitor menu and press the < or > navigation buttons, the controls freak out and start randomly cycling without me touching the button. If i press the < key once it cycles in the opposite direction.
Sometimes the < and > do not work and sometimes the menu justs shuts down. I usually have no control over the monitor menu.
If i use the menu to adjust the contrast down to 95 and exit everything is fine for a few seconds. Then that box appears on the screen and it automatically jumps from 95 up to 100.
I have tried many solutions to solve this including:
recalling the factory monitor defaults
degaussing
unplugging the power cord and/or pc cable for a few minutes
The above problems happened months ago, they stopped for a month or two but now have returned.
I tried to post a screenshot but because they are onscreen monitor settings they did not appear in my screenshot.
Any ideas on fixing this, it is driving me nuts seeing these boxes randomly appear.
Thanks in advance.

If under warranty, get it replaced. If you have a service tag number associated with your monitor, you may use Chat or Email support to setup the monitor exchange. If you only have an Order number associated with the monitor, you must call in, 1-800-624-9896. They will need the following information -
20 digit PPID number on back of monitor
Name, address, phone, email address
Order number
Issue
Troubleshooting done

My warranty has expired so it is either fix it or trash it.
Is there any software that can be used to reset the monitor or are the controls built in the monitor only?

Thanks for responding again Chris
As stated, I have recalled the factory defaults several times to no avail.
I have experiment with various combinations of unplugging power...pc cable...recalling...degaussing.
Maybe i should just buy a used monitor but i hate to trash one that is only 2 years old...i love this monitor.

jda32127b,
There is a recall function in the OSD (On Screen Display).

I found an unusual solution or temp fix.
I determined that the problem is a broken menu button on the monitor....if i turn the monitor on while holding
the menu button down, the boxes disappear. As soon as i let go of the menu button, the boxes appear.
So, how do i keep the menu button held down? I took a fork and bent the top part to the 4 oclock position, stuck it under the monitor and rigged it so it holds the button down. Later i will go to home depot and find a metal L joint or something to hold the button down.
The box has been gone ever since...and it is better than trashing a very nice monitor.
reply if you have any questions
