I have installed a 1702FP on a system with a Radeon 9600 Pro (Windows XP based, fully patched). Although the system says the display is running in 32bit color depth, it appears to be running as a 256 color display, making it totally unsuitable for my photographic work.

I have installed the latest drivers from ATI, have the latest 1702 driver (though it appears to be two years old). I have also tried running the display at 1024x768, 1280x1024 both at 60, 70 and 75Hz, none of which makes any difference to the apparent color depth. I have tried running both on the analog and the digital interfaces. If I swap back to my original monitor, the color depth is fine.

Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong, because at present I have had to revert to my CRT.
