Frequency Out of Range

Greetings,

Two days ago my computer's screen just randomly got messed up, and now everytime i try to reboot it gives me the error "Frequency Out of Range".   I tried running it in safe mode, and i messed around with all of the settings yet it is still giving me the same error.   I have tried changing the resolution, refresh rates, and color modes, but it has done nothing.

I do not know where to go from here, and any help will be greatly appreciated.   Thanks

Weege817,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

What monitor do you have connected to the system?

I'm pretty sure it is the:

17 inch E773 (16 inch viewable) Conventional CRT

I do not know for sure, but i do know that i purchased the monitor with the Dell Dimension 2400 desktop over a year ago.

Weege817,

Going into the osd controls and perform a monitor recall to see if that will resolve your issue. Click the link below to view the online manual for this monitor and for instructions on using the osd controls.

Is is posssible you have accidently selected a refresh rate your monitor can't handle?
As Jesse said you can Press RECALL to restore the monitor to factory settings.

But to understand what might have happened or if another reads this thread.
If you pick a higher rate than your monitor is designed for it soon will be toast...
And beware of messing around with all of the settings unless you're sure what you need. Or at least change them one at a time, write it down and change it back if it doesn't do what you think it should.

I Bet you changed to a higher refresh rate than your monitor can take.
Try Control Panel ---> Display--->settings tab---advance button--->Monitor tab--->
screen refresh rate--->click box Hide modes that the monitor can't display .

Then select a refresh rate that your monitor can handle. Most can handle at least 60 Hz (check with your manual) but a higher setting causes less screen flicker and is easier on your eyes all day....

Let us know how it goes!

What if the menu button doesn't seem to work?  I can't even get the BIOS info to display on the screen!  The menu button doesn't do anything!

The post you are replying to is 3 years old, you might what to start a new thread when you have a problem if you can't find a current thread about the issue.

What kind of monitor do you have?
