G2410 Whining Buzzing noise
I just got a G2410 - I really like this monitor - except it makes a hight pitched whining/buzzing noise which is driving me nuts! It makes the noise when ever it is at anything but 100% brightness. The sound changes as I change the brightness but thankfully goes away when the power saver mode kicks in.
My question - is this normal for this monitor?

I don't think so.
I have the same monitor U2410 (and a 2209AW)
It makes no noise at all... So it is definitely not normal.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think the monitors you mentioned are similar to the G2410. The G2410 has a LED backlight. As far as I know, the G2210 is the only other Dell monitor with a LED backlight.
I should also mention that I don't think you would hear the noise in a normal office environment, but in my home office, the only other noise is a PC fan.

I just received a G2410 (24" Widegreen), and yes, it makes a high-pitched whining noise that will probably cause me to return it. The noise is worst on Energy Smart Plus and Standard settings, not as bad on Energy Smart but still bothersome. Anybody else? Is there any point exchanging the monitor, or will they all make the same sound?

I called Dell support and they sent me a replacement - it just arrived today. The replacement is utterly silent! Not a sound.
If you bought the monitor by itself (i.e. not bundled with a system) you will find that there is no "monitors" option on the support line. You have to pick desktop systems.

Thank you so much! I just tried turning the brightness up to 100% on the Standard Energy setting, and that eliminated the noise until I switched back to Energy Smart settings.
You just saved Dell from losing the sale completely - I was ready to return it and not ask for another. My call to tech support got me nowhere earlier (Yup, I bought the monitor solo), so thanks also for the tip on asking for desktops.

Thanks to this forum, Dell replaced the G2410 monitor, and sure enough, the new one is silent. It's great! Thanks for the help!
