HDMI > DVI cable on 2407WFP-HC

I recently purchased a 2407WFO-HC monitor and I wanted to use it as a display for my PS3 so I bought a HDMI > DVI cable for it but everytime I change the display option to HDMI on the PS3, I'd get a black screen on the DVI channel on the monitor and I can't seem to get any picture to show. Various review websites reviewing 2407WFP-HC confirmed that the method can be used for the PS3 but I somehow can't get it to work. Previously, I used a component cable for my PS3 on the monitor before I came across the HDMI > DVI method so I have the component cable plugged into the monitor. I've also exchanged the HDMI > DVI cable twice because I thought the cables were defects but after 2 exchanges, I'm pretty sure it isn't the cable's fault. What am I doing wrong?

SoujiTen,

* Disconnect the PS3 HDMI to DVI cable from the PS3 and the monitor
* Reconnect the PS3 composite cable to the PS3 and the monitor
* Change the PS3 video settings to HDMI- Manual- either 480p, 720p, or 1080p
* Reconnect the HDMI to DVI cable to the PS3 and the monitor
* Change the monitor to DVI

The second and third steps are the problem. When you switch to HDMI from component, I can't see anything on the DVI channel. How can I set the resolution when I can't see anything? Can 2407WFP-HC really be used as a display for the PS3 via HDMI > DVI cable? I'm starting to doubt the reviews because I've spent lots of time on this and I've probably done everything possible and I'm still not getting any results.

The 2407WFP-HC can indeed be used with the PS3 via the HDMI->DVI method as I am using that method myself.

One thing I would try is to do a reset on the PS3 (all it does is reset the PS3 system settings, you won't lose your data). Do this by ensuring your PS3 is turned off, hold down the power on button on the PS3 and wait for it to beep before you let go.

This should trigger the screen detection process and should be viewable on your monitor via the HDMI->DVI method.
