I Need Help
I started at 9:00 am CST this morning to get the most basic question of all answered. I have been on hold for hours, I have called Dell stores here in Houston, I have called numerous electronic stores here locally that say they do not not deal with Dell products (I wonder why?) and now I have joined this community forum.
HOW CAN I GET BASIC SET-UP QUESTION ANSWERED with a 24-hour period?

I took 4600 out of the box, hooked everything up, kids started playing in the boxes, turned turned monitor and hd on - no response from monitor. Checked blue cable - okay. Read instructions on set-up chart. First note: Video intergrated cover (?) on cable must remain on cable in order for monitor (E773c) to work properly.
What is this cover thing? What did it look like? How can I replace it? And why isn't there a note on the cable itself to not remove it? All I remember seeing was what looked like a thin foamy cover that normally would be there to protect the pins during shipping.
Thanks for any input/solution. I got absolutely nowhere with anyone at Dell.

Thank you for contacting Dell Technical Support.
Let me reconfirm your issue with the system is that your system will not
power ON.
This is what I sent them:

If OK, reconnect the monitor to the VGA port. If you bought a graphics card option (Nvidia FX5200, ATI 9800, some number like that) connect at the graphics card, Not the blue socket near the other ports. The graphics card is in the topmost slot.
If you did not buy a graphics card, the blue port on the mother board is the right one to use.
When you power up the tower, the monitor should come on (green light) after a short warmup. (If you pressed the power button, the monitor may stay off(no light) until you press it again.) The monitor turns off automatically when the PC is shut down. The monitor then is in standby (orange or amber light) until you press power on the tower.
