LCD 1905FP Rev-A00 vs. Rev- A01

Question

Is it just me or does the 1905FP get more negative posts than any other monitor?  How then is it possible that PC World ranks it so highly (3rd)???   It also appears that there are two different versions of the 1905FP (Rev-A00 and Rev-A01).  I think its the Rev-A00 that is particularily bad.  You can find out which you have on the outside of the box that it came in.   I think they sell the Rev-A00 in Canada and the Rev-A01 in the US.  I always wondered why the price in Canada is less after you adjust for exchange rates.  Being in Canada myself, I got stuck with a Rev-A00 even though I just bought it.  I also wouldn't be surprised that when you buy it on sale they send you the Rev-A00, full price buyers get the newer version.  Giving rise to the old saying, 'You get what you pay for'.   My main complaint about this monitor is ghosting while scrolling down a page.  I don't use a DVI, but something tell me that it wouldn't help.  I also find the colours to be a touch washed out and untrue.  I saw a HP 17' at Best Buy and I could sware that it seemed much better than mine even though the specs where worse.   I suspect that Dell is one of the worst in the industry for exaggerating their specs.   Also is it true that Dell doesn't build their own monitors?  Instead they have other known companies do it for them and they put their label on it?  If this is true why would these companies make a better monitor for Dell than they make for themselves, just to have Dell sell it for less (it doesn't make sense).  Overall, I feel that Dell monitors are only so/so compared to others in the industry.

I'm starting to get the bad news rolling in from another forum.  Seems like the 1905fp's use something called a PVA screen, which is supposed to have horrible ghosting, even for 20 ms response times.  This is what causes the weird effects when you even scroll down the screen.  I'm wondering how all the web reviewers missed this minor detail.   Dell doesn't manufacture their own monitors.  I think it's Samsung or something.  I don't know exactly.

I think that I may have solved our problem.

The blurring is due to having the contrast set too low. I had mine at 25 because I like it that way. I accidently reset the factory default settings on my monitor and the blur was suddenly gone. After experimenting, I realized that it was the contrast setting that was causing the blur. At a setting of 50 the blur is gone. Even at 40 there is some blur. I now know why the manual suggested only using the brightness setting and not contrast.

With DVI, it doesn't even let me set the contrast.

I just tried analog at contrast 50 and 70, and the problem doesn't go away. Maybe I'm just too picky... oh well, back it goes then.

The Dell 2005 FPW has the most many negitive reviews.  Some people have returned their monitor five + times.  I just returned mine and I was on the phone 3 hours just trying to get Dell to take the 2005 FPW back and pay the shipping to return it.  I had just ordered it 19 days ago.  No one would listen to the 21 day return policy. I was told to pay for the shipping and Dell would repay me.Then they tried to send me another 2005 FPW, check they are so bad Dell is not listing them for sale in home the last time I checked.  I just ordered the 2001 FP and hope it is OK, it has been around long enought to work out the ghosting and back light problems.  I hope. I must say Dell did at last agree to pay for the return of the monitor.

wow,glad i didnt see any of this before i ordered because i have had not problems at all & am very happy with mine,slight ghosting in fps games when turning quickly wich i probably only noticed cuz i was looking for it & if i move a window quickly it blurs out.
