looking to get the 2407
Hi All,
I have looked at the various monitors with the 1920x1200 resolution which the 2407 fits. I have read all the reviews which praises the 2407 but this forum seem to indicate that the panel has some serious issue. I have also looked at Samsung's 244T and though I would buy that because of its reviews (both user and professional) I am not able to because the cost of this monitor is twice that of the 2407 here in Hong Kong. The 2407 is listing on the HK website at just under HK$6k (US$750.00) while the 244T is retailing for HK$12k (US$1500.00) This is a huge difference on a monitor that has essentially the same panel.
I know about the other component input issues with HD content and though I would like this all to function properly and such, this is really something that is far down the list as this monitor will mainly be a desktop computer monitor. I don't have an xbox or a playstation and am not currently in the market to buy either in the near future.
What I want to know is the quality of the panel using a DVI connection and if there are major issues with this monitor from this respect. My system is:
AMD 64 x2 4800+
2 GB of Ram
Asus 7900GTX
The system was near top of the line 4 months ago so I should not expect any hardware issues on my end. What really interest me is:
- Banding fixed ??
- Any uneven back light issues??
- Color issues?
- any general comment on this monitor as purely a computer monitor.
This is replacing a Philips 19" LCD that is dying which I used as my second monitor. So this will be the new main monitor and the Viewsonic 191b will move to my second monitor in a 2 monitor setup.
I am a gamer that play mainly BF2 right now but I also am a into photography and so I will at times edit images in Photoshop as well as do some basic web programing for my own websites and such.
Any comments on this will help me decide. Thanks.
Gordon.
