M992 Max Refresh

Sorry... Does anyone know the max. refresh rate of a Dell M992 at 1152 x 864? Windows "monitor" setting with "hide modes this monitor cannot display" checked says 100hz. However, my Radeon 9800 Catalyst drivers say 85hz is the highest safe refresh rate when "use DDC Information is checked."  The Dell monitor drivers are installed.  Which is correct and is it safe at 100hz?

Your optimum refresh rate should be between 75 and 85 HZ, higher then that and you may experience blanking (unsupported modes) as well as ghosting or video trailing.

My M992 died, today.... I was chatting on IRC, this morning, and suddenly, the monitor zoomed on a part of the screen. after a few seconds, it made a noise, then went blank... the led is off, and no picture will display.... What happens, now?

Check the plug, and your mains fuse panel for that outlet, or plug it in somewhere else. Only half kidding.
