MacBookPro U2311H horizontal display issue
Hello there,
I cannot get my new U2311H monitor to display across the whole screen. My Mac seems to see the monitor OK and it displays a full image vertically but horizontally i am losing quite a lot of screen real estate on both sides.
I can't find any settings on the Mac side to change the horizontal display size. In System Preferences the mac sees the monitor and I have chosen the correct display resolution: 1920 by 1080 but I still get this vertical letterbox. It's such a pity!
Does anyone have any ideas?

Dell does not test monitors with apple platforms. You should check the apple Discussions Forum for help from other apple users with our products.

Can you tell me if it's possible to adjust the width (and height) of the display on the U2311H monitor?

Open the monitor OSD (On Screen Display) -Display Settings.

Hi again Chris, I have tried that, cannot find a setting to adjust width of display, on the horizontal position. Is there a setting in the OSD to control the width of display?

Yes. Go here. Open "Using the On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu. Go to Display Settings. I see them there on that webpage?

Yes, thanks Chris, I've looked and looked at all the settings in the help page you sent me and in the OSD and I cannot find a setting to change the width. If there is a setting what is it? This is odd, I've never bought a monitor before that has no way to change the width of the display (not the position).
Sorry if I'm being stupid but I cannot find it. If it is there, please tell me.

Connect the monitor to the PC via VGA, Then check the OSD.

Hi Chris,
Yes I've done that. The monitor is attached by a VGA to a MacBook Pro running and Intel chip. The display cuts off on both sides of the monitor leaving the display letterboxed.
I've already tried everything you have suggested but cannot find how to adjust the width and can only assume not that it is not possible.
If you don't know if it is possible to adjust the width of the display, could you please ask someone from the tech side of your company if this model has that capability and let me know.
If it is not possible to adjust the width of the display, I would like to return the monitor and get my money back.

I am the tech side. I think you need to check with the apple guys. This sounds like the way the apple video card is sending the signal, not the monitor.
