max max resolution? (M992)

I bought a 17" P793 CRT and its max resolution is 1600x1200, and that is just fine.

My problem is that I also bought a 19" M992 CRT and its max resolution is the same!

I did some fiddling around with drivers and got it up to 1792x1344, which is still somewhat dissapointing considering its size difference.

With the default plug&play drivers I can put the resolution all the way up to 2000+, BUT when I do so, the monitor does not raise its resolution, but meerly makes a sort of panning feature where I can scroll accross the screen to the other parts that dont fit, kind of like a realtime strategy game. (which is obviously really annoying and silly.)

Is there any such thing as a driver that will ignore the monitors reccomended capabilities, and force it to go as high as I well please? On the old and 15" SVGA which it replaced I could force the resolution wayy past the reccomended 1024x1152, all the way past 1400x1200 untill it got all scrambled and unintelegable...

Please note that I dont care about the warrenty or "safety" of doning something like this. I got the thing second hand for a good price so it can be replaced if it blows up in my face, and I hold noone accountable if I happen to go blind in the process.

Thanks!
