Monitor appears to be locked...

I unplugged my U2711 from one PC (connected using display port) and hooked it to a different computer using VGA. When the monitor powers up, it says it can't find the Display port in a little window that moves around the screen. The only button that is active is the menu button, which causes a padlock to be displayed on the screen. the menu never opens. I expected to be able to open a menu and scroll through input options, where I would select VGA, but I can't do anything.

How do I "unlock" it? Please don't suggest holding down any of the buttons or unplugging it- I tried many combinations of those things.

Thanks!

* Power off the PC
* Power off the monitor
* Disconnect the power cord from the monitor
* Disconnect all monitor cords from the PC (USB, DVI, VGA, DisplayPort, HDMI, etc.)
* While disconnected, press and hold the monitor power button down for 5 seconds
* Reconnect the VGA cord to the monitor and to the PC video card
* Reconnect the power cord to the monitor
* Power on the monitor if it does not power on by itself
* Power on the PC
* Press the monitor Input Source Select button and choose VGA. What happens?

No dice. I now have it re-connected, via display port, to the original computer. I did what you suggested and it comes on then immediately goes into power save mode. None of the buttons are active, except the menu button which brings up the lock when pressed.
