Monitor in Power Save Mode!
I have read all the other posts on this and they won't help me. This is the first monitor out of like 6 that I've had over the years that didn't pop out of the box and set up in 1 minute.
We just bought an Optiplex GX270T, got it today- 10/23, and bought a Dell E171FP 17" flat panel monitor to go with it. Everything has power, the tower is functional, the keyboard and mouse have power...there should be no reason why I cannot get this monitor out of Power save. So,as of right now, I cannot do anything until I get this monitor out of power save. I have shut it all down and turned just the system on and then the monitor; I have tried other keyboards and mice....none of it works. I also have another system that I have yet to set up, but if it's this much of a hassle, I'll be sending them both back tomorrow.
Help asap.

Check this out. My girlfriend called me because I am a tech. I went through everything with her over the phone and then it dawned on me. Look at the back of your PC. You may have 2 monitor ports. One is built into the system board and the other will be in the silver slots. My friends had hers plugged into the built in video card which would give her the message: In Power Save Press any key on keyboard or press mouse. Once she unplugged it and plugged it into the other port, it worked fine. I hope this is your case.
Of course this only applies with an analog connection. No digital.

Okay, I think I have one of the solutions if you're still having problems. I bought a new 17" e171fp only and had it connected to laptop at first, worked beatifully. I then tried out my H^((&(*&D PC and just a blank screen and amber light below. Drove me nuts for a few days trying everything posted. We'll today, I messed around again and believe it or not, I got it work by not fully inserting the adapter into the back of the video card, maybe about half way in until you see video. Hope this helps!
