Monitor USB ports stop working after power down

I have the Dell 17" UltraSharp flatpanel. I have the USB cable hooked up to my monitor and computer, and all 4 ports on the monitor work fine, that is until i turn the monitor off. If I turn the monitor off, then turn it back on, the USB ports no longer work. This is very frustrating because this is where I plug in my keyboard and mouse, and they will not work after I turn the monitor off.

pcman0226,

Hmm, I have my mouse plugged into the side USB port on my 2407. When I turn the 2407 off/on, the mouse still works. I am plugged in through DVI on the video card. Are you using DVI or VGA?

I use DVI also, but i plug my mouse in the port on the bottom behind the monitor (along with my keyboard)

Not sure if this is relevant but might be worth a look. Have a look in Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers > USB Root Hub (there will probably be several entries). Right click or double click on each USB Root Hub entry and select the Power Management tab. Ensure that "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.
