finkle,

Yes, they are. All monitors have a 3 year warranty based off of the PPID number found on the rear of the monitor. The original owner and you need to fill out the transfer of ownership form.

Is that true that all monitors have a 3 year warranty, regardless of the system warranty? My understanding was that if the monitor was included with the system, then the warranty for the monitor was the same as the warranty on the system, even if only 1 year.

Thanks, Chris. I was told differently some time ago. So I recently bought the system w/o monitor (1 year warranty) and then bought the monitor as a separate order to get the 3 year warranty. Good thing the cost was less than $10 difference.

But what's a PPID?

azbruno,

Monitor purchased by itself on an Order Number
- 3 year warranty based off of the PPID number

Monitor purchased with a PC on the PC Service Tag Number
- 3 year warranty based off of the PPID number OR the longer PC warranty (some PCs sell with 4 or 5 year warranties)

Monitor purchased from a reseller (Ebay, CostCo, etc.) with no Order Number or PC Service Tag Number
- 3 year warranty based off of the PPID number

azbruno,

It is like a serial number. Just read the long number off of the back of the monitor to the Dell technician.

Sorry Chris, it seems it isn't so simple.

Same issue. I bought a 2407 monitor from Costco.ca.

I've been on phone for a hour, Dell Canada support can't do a thing for me.
In their records, this monitor is owned by Costco.  So they can't trust anyone calling and pretending he's the new owner.  They don't even want to listen to my PPID number.  They need a P.O. with my name/address on it in order to give me support.

So Dell Support want me to call CS to update the Dell records.  CS said they have no right to make any ownership transfer.  So I'm stuck.  FInally, they throw the ball to Costco asking me to make a ownership transfer with Costco.  What a mess.   Any suggestion ?

I was told by customer service today, there is no transfership for monitor warranty to new owner only if they are with computer system. I have 3 monitors I need to have warranty transfer. 2 to me and one to someone else. there needs to be some clarification on the monitor webpage saying if you buy a warranty you are the only one wwho use it. somewhere offshore help don't know what they are talking about. if my state attorney general hears about this somebody is in trouble with conssumer law.

Hello,

I had purchased a Dell monitor along with a system, and when the monitor failed, one person told me that it was under a seperate 3 year warranty, even though the system was only 1 year. Then when I called back they told me that the monitor fell under the system warranty, so it was only warranted for 1 year.

Now you're saying that the monitor is infact warranted for 3 years!? That's great! Although it sucks that I've been without my nice monitor for like 6 months now, but then it's still under the 3 year warranty, so you can get me  a replacement?

Please advise, I will send you all pertinent information.
