my 2000FP doesn't take dvi, only vga

monitor works fine with the blue cable, but when i try the white one it says "Check Signal Cable" at the top of the self-test box- the box with red, green, blue and white slowly bouncing around the monitor.

any ideas would be appreciated.

On the input select lites on the front, check whether the second light (2) is lit, if not push the input selector button. Further help here if you haven't already reviewed your User Guide:

If you are using a GeForce 5200 video card, try downloading & installing the A07 driver from support.dell.com  ftp://ftp.dell.com/video/R75461.EXE If upgrading the driver doesn't help, then call tech support & have them send you the EDID flash utility.  If that fails to restore DVI capability, then the monitor may need to be replaced.

If you have an ATI video card:

1.  Connect Video via Analog
2.  In Windows, go to Display Properties, Settings Tab
3.  Select Advanced button, OPTIONS Tab
4.  Check REDUCE DVI frequency on high resolution monitors, Click APPLY, Click OK, Click OK
5.  Shutdown, switch cable to DVI, reboot
