Need help selecting a monitor.

Question

First off let me say price isnt realy an issue for me. I just want to get the best monitor, not necesarily the "best value" and/or "most inputs/features." That all being said, I need some help deciding between the following three monitors.

I will mainly be using this monitor for graphic design and photo editing, with the ocasional DVD and World of Warcraft at 1900x1200 thrown in. My video card is the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX, so I will be running DVI.

The following are my two concerns about DELL and Apple's monitors:

DELL> From what I've read version A03 seems to still have some major banding/image problems

DELL> All reviews point to the base being flimsy.

APPLE> They have been pushing the 23" cinema hd for a while now and all of their new monitors seem to have
built in video cameras. Knowing Apple's record (ala Sony) I see them releasing new models soon. I dont
want to be left onwing an old model four months down the line.

APPLE> Limited PC options, only bypassed using 3rd party display software.

APPLE> Early monitors had a slight p[ink hue, not sure if they fixed that yet.

As you might see I am leaning towards the HP model at this point, but would appreciate any constructive advice. Thanks

yup i am in same situation as you.   If you can wait, samsung is bringing out an updated model of the 244t called the 245T :D Viewsonic may release a 24' with a s-ips panel that interests me also, both of these have no ETA that i know of tho. You could look at the BenQ 24' but i dont like it personally and it lacks 1:1 pixel mapping, also ugly imo.   2407wfp i doubt will overjoy you considering what you want the display for, 2407 lacks greyscale acuracy and unless its calibrated a certain way the banding reappears, in A03 banding is mostly gone but not fully.   graphic design and photo editing, 2407 is NOT the best option for you IMO   if your not at all worried about price then get an EZIO 10bit. $$$$$$$$$$$$

Thanks for the info. I just saw the NEC version a second or two before reading your reply. lol It sounds great, but I'm pushed to make apurchase within the next week or so. I guess too, when I said price isnt an issue, I meant more so in the realm of between the three monitors I listed.

I must admit though, the EIZO and NEC are VERY tempting. lol

very tempting indeed are those displays.   tough choise, its made easier by striking one off your list, i took the 2407 off mine, the HP could be the one if they have fixed the ghosting issue, i think it was that i read about that the display suffered from when 1st released. the apple could be solid, not looked into it much.   i took the samsung 244t off my list a while ago, its back on now because of all the really really good things ive heard from really cool users who know what they are talking about, didnt expect that.   good luck with it all :D

yeh the 1920x1200 resolution is the max for a dvi cable, the 3007wfp needs some funky dual link dvi cable to get a higher res and then you need a vid card that supports it.   26' is max id go for that resolution, the pixel size is still acceptable, the dell 2707 comming out whenever has a pixel pitch of 3.03 i believe if memory serves, maybe slightly too large IMO, your right the price will be a killer for the NEC but man its a work of art and if it did everything as its claimed i may even consider saving up and buying one :D UBER DROOOOOL!

arch I think that you still need some sleep:smileyvery-happy: Just about all (except some XFX) v/cards have dual dvi output in one cable. Just check the specs.. cheers mate

arch That 26' sounds really good. The price may be the problem. Pity it did not have a resolution between the 24' & 30' though... Will have to look at it when it comes out. Quite a few things I could comment on but the things not out yet so this is not the right time;) cheers
