Alienware X51 DVI out --> DVI to DVI cable --> U2412M DVI in (Note, if your video card has two DVI, test them both)
Per the U2412M User's Guide page 30:* Press the Menu button* Go to Input Source* Select DVI-D* Exit the Menu

Use the monitor's menu to select the input type and change it to DVI.
