Not Your Mother's "Cannot Display This Video Mode" Error
I know we've all (well, maybe not *all*) seen the message when using the LCD monitor about not being able to display the video mode. Usually we tell the user to boot into Safe Mode, remove drivers, yada yada yada.
I have a different situation that I haven't been able to find on the internet at all. I have two computers using my E196FPf LCD monitor. I use a KVM switch to go back and forth between them.
On one of those computers if it is booting up and I switch to the second computer when I switch back I get the dreaded "Cannot Display This Video Mode" message. However, if I boot up the computer and don't switch (meaning I watch it boot) then it works with no problem.
Oh, I should mention that I tried the "Turn off the monitor for 15 seconds and turn back on" method too.
Any clues?

P.S. This will also happen once in awhile when I log off or switch to another user. It seems to happen at the Window XP welcome screen.

What KVM switch do you use? I have a Belkin F1SZ104T KVM switch. I just tried your method and it didn't seem to make a difference for me. BUT, I unplugged my two USB hubs from the computer and it started up just fine. Could it be some USB devise causing the problem?
