P1130 High Pitched Noise

Question

I have two P1130's that both make a high-pitched noise for several minutes after I turn them on.  Suggestions?

I am running 1280x1024 @ 85Hz.... any lower is a real eye sore. This resolution and refresh rate are within spec for these monitors so I don't know what the issue is. Again they haven't always done this but have just started to do this. I see others on the board are having similar problems....

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Try changing the refresh rates for the monitors.To change the refresh rate go into the control panel and click the display properties. From there click settings | advanced | adapter/monitor. You can change them both. You should then see where to make the change.

I was changing the refresh from my video card in Windows. Is this what you mean by 'Adapter' ?

I have no other monitors than the two P1130's. They both make the noise but at different times after being turned on. After a while they do not make the noise.

lmplicit, Yes, you may want to give them a call to possibly have it replaced.

Yes call or send in a e-mail to tech support I had the same thing happening.  It just started to happen. It is an extremly high pitched whine. Sent into tech support and they told me my monitor is on the way out. I hope this helps.

How long is the warranty? Did they ship you a new one or refurb?

Yes, if still under warranty you will recieve a referb P1130. In fact my replacement just arrived today. They sent it Prority Overnight with call tags to send bad one back. I lucked out on this one as my desktop warranty just ran out. Thats a first usually it is the other way around. Warranty runs out something goes bad.

Dell's Monitor warranty is based on system purchase. My Desktop had a three year warranty so the monitor did as well. Dell always sends a Referb Monitor to replace a defective one unless it goes bad within the first 30 days; then you can request a new one. I wouldn't worry about a referb unit as referbs go through more quality checks than units coming off the assembly line. Good Luck
