P2214H USB hub driver issue

The USB hub on my dell monitor recently stopped working. What is strange is that it has been working fine for more than a year now before this issue.

My PC is able to detect the device, but under device manager it shows Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed). I have checked all the power management settings for the port to make sure it wasn't a power delivery issue. I have set the on screen monitor settings to have the USB always on (although this option greys out as soon as I plug in the upstream cable). Additionally if I connect other USB devices to the monitor their LED's light up for a brief second before powering off (except my dell AC511 speakers which remain on but non functional).

This seems to be a driver or software issue and I'm at a loss about what to do.

Any help would be appreciated.

* What computer model?
* What operating system?
* For my notes, send me via Private Message the P2214H service tag number

* Turn the P2214H and the computer off
* Disconnect the P2214H USB Upstream cable from both the computer and the P2214H
* Turn the P2214H on, then the computer
* Once into Windows, restart the computer
* Once back into Windows, turn the computer off
* Turn the P2214H off
* Reconnect the P2214H USB Upstream cable to both the computer and the P2214H
* Turn the P2214H on, then the computer
* Once into Windows, restart the computer
* Retest USB

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the reply.

I built the computer and it using an intel i5-4570 on an asrock z97 motherboard with 8 GB of ram. It has Windows 10 Home installed Version 1709 OS Build 16299.402. The monitor is REV A05.

I tried the steps you outlined to no avail, still shows as unknown USB device and no peripherals work or power on. I would send you the service tag, but I'm not certain the monitor has one? I could provide the S/N if that is useful?

Edit: I have also tried connecting a new usb a to b connector with no results. Additionally, connecting the usb to my dell xps laptop yields the same result and message in device manager, so I'm inclined to say it's a loose connection at the usb port or other hardware issue. Is there any manuals on how to remove the back panelling? I'd rather not pay dell the $129 they quoted me over the phone to even have it looked at (especially considering the monitor costs $149 new!!).

Multiple PCs, same issue. Does sound like the monitor. The were incorrect in quoting the $129. Dell does not repair monitors or have monitor disassembly documentation. We simply exchange them while under the purchased 3 year warranty. What is the 20 digit serial number?
