P2719HC, USB downstream not working

Hi,

I'm connecting my laptop to the monitor using the USB Type-C for charging and external display usage. But when I connect any device to the USB 2.0 or 3.0, it does not recognize it.

I have tried using the same configuration in two different laptops to check that there was not an issue with Windows, but still the same problem. USB downstream not working.

Is there anything else I can try to make them work?

@Erzgheiz  Power remains available on the display’s USB ports even if no upstream host is connected. And if video works over USB-C, then the cable you're using would also support at least USB 3.x Gen 1. Since you’re seeing this issue on multiple systems, the only thing I’d try would be a factory reset on the display itself, and then maybe a different USB-C cable in case the one you have is damaged. Video and USB 3.x travel over separate pins in a USB-C cable. If even that doesn’t resolve it, then there may be a hardware issue with the display.

Thank you. I found out there was some issue with the USB-C cable. I was using an extension cable and it seems the connection was not good.

After I disconnected and reconnected USB-C extension, everything went back to normal.

In addition to the mentioned above, the ports do receive power, because if I connect a USB cable and plug it to my phone or to my mouse, they charge, but Windows does not recognize the devices.

The fact that you mentioned about possible issues with the USB-C Cable, showed me the path for troubleshooting. I had overlooked that possibility becasue I was using the same setup for more than a year without issues and was really baffling me that power would go through but data not (at the beginning I though was something firmware-software related)

@Erzgheiz  Glad you've solved it.  Please see this post I wrote about extension cables and their pitfalls, and therefore the wisdom of either mentioning them upfront whenever describing your setup in a problem report or else just eliminating that variable upfront by retesting any problem scenario without them.
