P2719HC, USB Type-C, background noise, #5

I'm having the same issue. It happens when using a 2018 MacBook Pro and a HP ProBook connected over USB Type-C using the Dell provided USB-C cable. It does not happen when using HDMI. P2719HC produces whining sound when connected by USB Type-C to an HP ProBook and the Apple Macbook Pro. I'm using the provided USB Type-C cable.

Verify that the PC USB Type-C interface can support Alternate Mode DP1.2. Also, check to see if the current firmware revision of your P2719HC is older than the posted M2T106. If older, then update the P2719HC firmware. See page 57 in the online P2719HC User's Guide.

I believe my MacBook does support Alternate Mode but my HP laptop does not. I can't update the P2719HC firmware as it's not available for Apple Mac and I don't have admin rights on the Windows HP machine.

You will need to get Admin rights on that Windows HP PC and then run the P2719HC firmware update.

WORKAROUND SOLUTION: I have the same problem - but with my Macbook Pro and connecting 2 P2719HC monitors to the USB-C ports. The way I solve it is by turning the monitors off and then switching them on. Alternatively, I pull out the cables from my Macbook and then put them back immediately. It works. But it's a major hassle. Each time I wake up the machine, I have to do this ritual. Dell has not helped me thus far. But hey... hoping someone on this group has a better solution. Best Regards.
