P3424WEB, macOS, camera issues

Hello, I have a Dell P3424WEB monitor with an integrated camera connected via USB-C to my Macbook Pro M1 on macOS 14.6 and I keep having issues with the camera. If I disconnect the laptop from the monitor and connect it again, the camera is usually undetected. If I use it on Zoom, the video often freezes and needs to be turned off and on again in the Zoom app.  I have installed the latest firmware for the monitor, Dell Display Manager, but the issue persists. What should I do to fix this? It is very frustrating to have such a cool integrated camera which only works sometimes (typically after restart of my Mac). Also - my colleague reported the same issues on 16" Macbook Pro M2.

Thank you.

@DELL-Chris M UVCAssisant is still crashing, even running the new DDPM 1.3.2.0015 and with the monitor on the latest firmware.

@Sepet100

Based on this and this generic search, macOS "UVCAssistant" somehow controls the webcam? I have no idea how to troubleshoot it for DDPM. Thoughts?

@DELL-Chris M I have a case open with Dell as well on this, 199543342. The monitor's built-in webcam is failing (going grey, not accessible to use in an app, or just acts "glitchy" with the video produced) when connected to macOS devices. We were told to try using the new version of DDPM but that is not helping unfortunately. The UVCAssistant service is crashing roughly 15-30 minutes after the connection and then the webcam becomes unusable until you restart the macOS laptop. I believe this service is what macOS uses to connect to external USB webcams and it only has an issue when plugged into Dell monitors with built in webcams at this time.

Dell accepted the solution. Seriously? If Dell officially supports Apple Computers, the monitor does not work as designed. I am sorry but either stop supporting Apple Computers or work with Apple on the fix. I do not see a reason to do it for you.

Just got a P3424WEB today. Same issue with camera, it is freezing during Zoom and Whatsapp calls. I have updated to the latest version of the firmware M2T103 and use an Apple M2 Pro 2023. Where are they going to solve this issue?!

I no longer experience the freezes that i reported in september. It was going on for weeks but it stopped somewhere in october, and has been workjg fine since. I havent done anything to resolve  besides updating the OS to latest versions. Guess i got lucky!

I have just purchased a new Dell P3424web monitor, connected to a new Mac running sequoia 15.3.2. The Dell firmware was upgraded. Still no video using Zoom. Is this a Dell or Apple fault? Using a USBC cable. Thanks Brad

I have a computer with the same issue. Has anyone found a solution? A new MacBook Pro running Sequoia 15.6.

@DELL-Nat M I just purchased a P3424WEB monitor this month, setup running Mac OS Sequoia on an M1 Studio cpu. I have both the supplied HDMI cable for the display and the supplied USB-C to Display port cable connected for the camera.

I am experiencing the same flicker issue discussed in this forum; the other Dell monitor I previously connected (S3222DGM) did not have this issue. I have the current version of monitoring firmware installed. This leads me to believe flickering is related to the webcam.
