P3424WEB, webcam doesn't work anymore
We have two P3424WEB monitors, where the camera has stopped working. The computers cannot detect the camera. I have tried to update the firmware from M2T101 to M2T103, but it keeps stopping after about 20% with the message: Update error. See help for step by step instructions, etc. Keeps getting this error with both monitors.
The USB upstream cable is connected. Anyone knows this issue and a possible solution?

Looks like there was a security update that is causing the issue.
Uninstalled the security update (Setting > Windows Updates > Update history > Uninstall updates).
After that I uninstalled the drivers for the monitor webcam, then restarted my PC.
When the PC finished booting, the monitor webcam was working again.
Re-ran the monitor firmware update (M2T103) and it completed successfully.

Ended up running around with a laptop, without the Jan-2025 security update, firmware updating all our monitors from M2T101 to M2T103. The firmware updates takes ~20mins per monitor, thankfully we only have a handful of these monitors.

I have the exact same issue. Webcam worked fine yesterday, today it no longer works. I attempt to update the firmware from M2T101 to M2T103 and it fails at about 20%. I have also tried firmware M2T102, which also fails. I connected the monitor to another PC and attempted the firmware update again, and it failed at the same spot.![]()

@kennedym Did you follow the instructions above in the first paragraph? Then the troubleshooting steps on bottom?

@DELL-Chris M Yes, I followed the steps exactly. I have read the troubleshooting steps, and the firmware update instructions. While doing the firmware update, the only cables connected to the monitor was the USB-C going to the computer and power.
The camera shows as unhealthy in device manager (Device cannot start (code 10)). Camera shows this status in device manager on both a Windows 11 computer and another Windows 10 computer.

Then follow these instructions. Once GHN agents confirm warranty and your troubleshooting, they should setup a like for like monitor exchange.

Hi all, this is actually an issue with the Dell Firmware on the monitors and the Microsoft January 2025 Security update.
You will need to uninstall the Microsoft January update and then update the firmware on your monitor.
You can find the current version of the firmware here
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-au/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=2knm6&oscode=wt64a&productcode=p3424web-monitor
Also the firmware update will fail if you have not uninstalled the January Microsoft update (while the camera is in an error state in device manager)
Im not sure if Microsoft or Dell is a fault here, but we dont have the time for them to blame each other and I had to find a fix my self, as we have over 200 of these monitors and could not afford to have the cameras not working and not install security updates..
Cheers...

@DMarkwell74 Thanks for this. I had a suspicion that this was patch related since my machine received patches the night before. Was going to dig into it when I'm back at work Tuesday...you saved me some time.

@DMarkwell74 Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I uninstalled Windows Jan updates, but still get an error when trying to update the firmware... any ideas? many thanks!

Ran into this problem. As stated by others, first symptom was my web camera wasn't working. Device Manager showed it as having a problem. Checked for new firmware and saw I was 2 revisions behind. Tried to install updated firmware and it failed after 20%. Saw @DMarkwell74 's post and checked and saw that I had a Microsoft Security Update from Jan 17th (KB5050021). Using Windows Update I "uninstalled" this update, rebooted and was able to install the firmware without issue. The camera is also working.
To be clear, if you just want your camera working you probably only need to uninstall the Microsoft Security Update. The firmware update was just another symptom of the same issue, but likely not required to resolve it. But I didn't test it both ways so your experience may differ.
Hopefully Microsoft pays attention to the issues caused by their latest update and addresses them.
Good luck!

We ran into this issue as well. Had to uninstall 2025-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5049981) to resolve the issue.

@DMarkwell74
Thank you, this solved the issue. After uninstalling the update, the camera works and the newest firmware installs without any issues.
I have so far tested it on 5 devices, and everyone works now.
