Problem w/ E173FP monitor

Question

Ive had this monitor for about 3 plus years and from what ive read so far a lot of people have the same problems. Mine is a bit different though, Initially it happened on sunday when after trying to bring it back from standby in the morning it wouldnt turn on, even after a restart, cehcking cables, disconnecting for self test check and all that.

After Ordering a new monitor via amazon I decided to give it one last try after it had been completely disconnected for about 3-6 hours and it magically turned on and I could see the self test thing. So after that it worked normally, but I left it on without turning it off and again I had the same problem when I came back to my PC it was in standby and while I could hear the pc coming back on my monitor didn't.

I know its not my pc because I tried another monitor on it and it worked fine, I also tried the E173fp with a labtop and another pc and it still didnt work. So after leaving the monitor once again disconnected from anything overnight it works normally again this morning. I switched the power settings to never turn off my monitor.

Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong or what part of the monitor is causing this??

What is the rest of the model number? is it a 'C'? Are you able to do component troubleshooting?

There is little modular parts availability for lcds. The way to repair them is to figure out what $3 part or parts went bad and replace them. You'll need tools and soldering skills to proceed. I do this as a hobby to help keep them out of the landfill and makes my friends happy

thanks for helping out tr4, ive done soldering before installing pick-ups on my guitars but how would I figure out what part/s I need? Would I need to open the monitor and check for burns and such?  Currently its working fine even if I turn it off and back on, so hopefully the problem will only occur when it goes into standby it wont come back on.  Do you know if theres any sort of internal battery since it seems that after its unplugged for a few hours it works fine again.

no battery. Most likely the component cooling down and starts working. Not likely to see any burnt components, I've had many open and have yet to see any. One I picked up locally did have a part that looked fine but was not passing electricity and fell apart in my hand. But I was test that specific component. You are looking at tiny parts. I have a plastic container thats about 3 inches across and 7 inches high that has parts from dozens of repairs and it's not even near being full.

You are going to need a multimeter and know how to use it to check for voltage and resistance.
