problem with E228wfp monitor :(

oh my..that made my monitor turn into a bad willy wonka trip lol. Chris I did the factory reset, then followed that by doing the color setting, but the color setting really through my monitors color for a loop. Not sure if that was the plan but let me know what thats about.

Switch it back to PC RGB, then run Factory Reset again.

this may sound stupid, but so many times have things went wrong only to be found eventually that a simple solution existed.

Is your screensaver or energy power monitor settings turned on? My laptop would hibernate every 10 min if left untouched & would shutdown the monitor to conserve battery power.

Goodluck with your problem. (If it is any consolation, I just went through dell tech support via email in regards to my problem with seeing lines in my monitor, and it was a hassle-free experience of having a replacement sent to me. Now all that I ask is for the replacement to have no lines!)

Yep I did do that Chris. Let me also add I am using the DVI connection from my powerbook (apple) to the dell monitor. I was told by a friend that if I used the analog it would probably fix this problem but my laptop doesnt have VGA :( do you think that could be my problem?

got some more news on my delemma with this monitor :( :( :( I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with this now that i'm narrowing down my information more. I plugged in my OTHER laptop which is an Alienware computer..and it plugged the dell w228wfp into its analog VGA port. It seems that the blinkin doesnt happen with this conneciton. Now is there any plugin or what not that I can use with my mac to have it use the analog plug in instead of the DVI???? ughh please help thanks for the help guys

Just curious if there has been a resolution to this issue. I have a Mac G4 and are using the DVI connector with this monitor. Having the same problem. I can move the cable to my previous monitor and all is good. I can connect the E228WFP to an IBM laptop, using the DVI connector, and it works. If anyone has any thoughts please let me know. Hi All Was there any resolution to this problem at all?I have the same problem with a 17" G4 Powerbook and the E228WFP - runs fine with a VGA connection, but not with a DVI connection. I've tried various DVI cables, to no avail... Thanks Paul

For what it's worth, I've tracked down the forum/post I remember. It relates to other flat panel displays (Samsung) and the Mac Mini, although the problem cited may well be applicable to Powerbook users (since it refers to G4 and ATI chipsets, both of which are present in the Powerbook I have). Not sure if this will help anyone at all...

Hi Chris Not as yet - I've trawled a few when I first bought the display - in fact, I do recall a comment somewhere about video cards, timing and powerbooks. It only occurs when connected via DVI, and is worse when there's plenty of onscreen activity. I'll look around and see if I can find the comment I remember. I'm connected via VGA at the moment, which is fine but kind of disappointing... Best Paul
