Problem with New Dell 1704FPT LCD

I recently received a 1704FPT LCD. When looking at a white background from about 30 degrees above the horizontal, the white turns a sky blue. As the angle increases to about 45 degrees, the blue becomes deeper. Even looking straight at the middle of the monitor, I can see a bluish tint at the bottom from that slight angle. I tried the LCD on three computers with the same result. I also have examined 5 other LCD's I have including a 1905FP and a 200FP, and none of them do anything like this.

I spoke with Dell support and they sent me a second LCD which I just received. It does the same thing. Is this just a feature of this model (hard to believe others can stand this), have I gotten two defective ones in a row, or is there some way to adjust this away?

i dont know if that is the same problem i have.

when i look directly in the middle of the screen, the top part of my screen is darker, while the bottom is much brighter.

i really hate this as the screen looks very odd. i've tried analog and dvi with the same result.

The two I had sound something like the opposite of yours. I've returned both to Dell, and will look for another monitor.

I have the same problem. So far I am very disapointed in the 1704 because I have a 1703 right besides it and the 1704 is very poor. Please keep this thread updated on how you resolve this issue because I am having trouble with tech support.

Sorry if my last response isn't clear. I returned both within 21 days, received my money back, and moved on.

I've returned it also. It was very unacceptable as it hurts my eyes.

I've tried updating the driver, used Dell's driver, changed to used analog instead of DVI (and adjusted various settings), used settings that other said was good for DVI. Everything was a no go.

I've tried using tech support to resolve it, but there was no way to find the 'Service Tag' so I gave up.

I looked at the 1703 at my workplace and it seem to be better.. but it has a slow response time from the spec sheet.

I was thinking about getting the 19 inch (1905FP) -- however, I don't know if it has the same problem.

The 20inch 2001FP is very nice ( I have these at work ). Also the widescreen version too is nice. However, they are too expensive for the time being.

I have both the 1905FP and the 2001FP also; no problems with either. On another forum someone suggeted that the very low response time on the 1704FPT was related to the problem, and I did find some support for that on the web.
