Resizing of Documents on U2412M

Hello Forum,

I have a U2412M Monitor and would like to know how to reduce the size of the document as shown on the Monitor when I drag it over from my 17" laptop. Is there a way to partition the Monitor so the size of the document does not display the full size of the monitor? Ideally it would drag over and be the same size as displayed on my laptop.
