S2719DM, Blurry Edges, Backlight Bleed
I just bought the latest model of your monitors, S2719DM.
I have some questions to Dell Support here.
1) Is it normal on this model that the Backlight Bleeding is so huge?
2) The blurry and shadowed edges, is it also normal on this model that near all edges there is soft dark shadow?
3) Is it related to the thin bezels or is it a defect?
4) Based on pictures should I ask for replacement?
I do like the design of this model but I am honestly disappointed on the image quality. The soft, blurry, darky edges are really annoying and brings feeling of very cheap model, but this S2719DM is one of your pricey ones, and a very new one. I just wanted to make a youtube review of this model but I thought that I should first consult it with Dell Support. If my quality doubts are rather a defect or a normal behavior of this model.
Tested on MacBook OSX and on a Lenovo ThinkPad Windows - integrated intel cards (HD 5000), used native resolution 2560x1440.
Tested using mDP-HDMI converter(on MacBook) and also tested on direct HDMI connection (on Lenovo). Results are the same.
Monitor settings: Factory Settings.

* Turn the room lights on. Dell monitors are not validated in a dark room. All monitors are inspected per industry standard, which is with 150lux ambient lighting (similar to typical office lighting)
* Reset the monitor to Factory Defaults, page 30
* Post pictures of the standalone BID (Built-in Diagnostics), page 36, and I will tell you if it meets our manufacturer specifications for overall uniformity

Please look at the last image.
We can see the mentioned blur on the edges, it's hard to capture on the photo therefore I did a closeup and crop of the image.
This "blury shadow" takes away most of the excitements after purchasing this model...
sorry to say it's my biggest concern and I am not sure if it's normal or it's a defect.
The bleeding is impossible to capture in my room therefore only dark image can show how the backlight works, in normal room there is too much distracting light.

Thank you Chris.
I've purchased this monitor two days ago. Till the next weekend I'll try to convince myself to keep this device because it's design is totally awesome
I do appreciate your help.

I do not see a reference to edge shadow in the online reviews. But maybe they are not looking for it. If still inside the first 30 days, you are within your rights to "return" it for refund. Knowing this, perhaps you can convince Technical Support to offer you an exchange instead. But once the 30 day mark passes, you cannot get the refund.

I see it on the last picture, but that S2719DM is well within our manufacturer specifications for overall uniformity. We could not exchange it. You have 30 days from the Dell invoice date to return it for refund.

Thank you very much Chris, you are really awesome and quick with answers
But... in general is the edge-shadow a standard thing in S2719DM?
Honestly I can see it for the first time such noticeable in such high-end model. I saw it earlier but on old and cheap devices. I would love to keep this monitor, but I am not sure if I can stand the "edge shadows", it's most noticeable on the bottom, then also on L & R, almost not noticeable on the top.
Maybe the U2717D can be without such shadows on the edges?
Thanks!

I have done additional test in graphic program, I created white image and put there a black rectangle. Then I have aligned it near bottom edge - the edge looks really bad, it looks fuzzy & blury. Believe me in reality it looks far worse camera is boosting the light and sharpening the image. Additionally the picture is taken from lower perspective, from perspective of my eyes the "shadow" is more noticable. it's around Right, Bottom, and Left edge it's not noticable on the Top. Please open the image in 1:1 scale and you will be quite shocked
I would strongly advice to raise it to quality and also deisgn team, it looks really bad on such hyped device. Sorry to say but I am gonna wait for next revision or try the S2718D next week.
I hope that I was helpful

The bleeding edge is a design feature of the infinity edge. Working as designed.
Backlight bleed or shadows appearing on Dell InfinityEdge borderless monitors
S2719DM, S2419HM, U2417H, U2717D, U2717H, U2419H, U2518D, S2718D
I find it amazing it hasn't come up in any product reviews. I suspect Dell provide vetted monitors to the reviewers as this design feature only applies to the monitors found at bottom of the barrel.
