S2722DC, USB to Ethernet adapter not working
I recently purchased my Dell S2722DC monitor and have it connected via the USB-C port to the USB-C port on my Lenovo laptop and the monitor works great. I want to use one of the SuperSpeed USB 5 Gbps (USB 3.2Gen 1) Type-A
downstream ports on the monitor for an ethernet 3.0 adapter. With the ethernet adapter plugged in to the monitor, I can't see the ethernet adapter in the device manager and can't get it work. If I plug the adapter directly into the laptop it works fine. Should I be able to get an ethernet adapter to work when plugged into the monitor?

Plug a wired USB mouse into the S2722DC #7 and #9 USB Type-A downstream ports. Does the wired USB mouse work in both?

I had to dig to find a wired USB mouse but finally found one. The mouse works when plugged into each of the two USB type-A ports so they are functional. Out of curiosity, what is the technical reason those two ports can't support an ethernet adapter? I think of a USB port as generic that should support any adapter.

I'll love to get update on this as well. I'm disappointed that we can't use usb ethernet adaptor on monitor, which will make it a one wire setup with my dell 5511

I never did get any more of an explanation other than "it won't work". Maybe someone else can chime in on how to make this work.

I had the same problem with an S2722QC monitor and a TP_link UE300 Ethernet adapter. The interesting thing was that when I connected a wireless USB adapter (TPLink too) it worked fine, so I concluded that there is some kind of blacklist/whitelist of devices on the monitor's USB hub.
How did I solve it? bought a Dell USB3-ethernet adapter :). It works as expected and I now have my setup using a single USBC cable to keep everything connected. I hope this helps :). Greetings!
