S2722DZ, disable built-in speakers while using Audio line-out?
Hello community,
I have an issue with my S2722DZ monitor. I have connected my external speakers to the Audio line-out 3.5mm port and the speakers are working. But, the built-in speakers are still playing and that's really annoying. In the OSD menu I didn't find an option to disable them. A firmware upgrade didn't help either. I can't connect the external speakers to my PC, as I have two PC and don't want to switch the cable every time. With my former LG Monitor that setup was working flawlessly. I hope we can sort this issue out, otherwise I have to return the S2722DZ and stay with my LG.
Best regards

The online S2722DZ User's Guide page 48 shows Menu--> Audio & Webcam--> Speaker --> Mute or Unmute. Did you try changing that to Mute?

The latest firmware update M3T104 (released on August 18, 2023) fixed the issue!

Hello, I'm facing exactly the same issue but I can provide more details, as I recently bought this screen twice: once for the office and once for home.
When I received the first screen, everything was working well (I was able to disable the internal speakers and have sound from the line out jack). Then I did the firmware update to follow Dell's recommendations (from M3T101 to M3T103) and I can confirm that the update introduced this issue.
When I received the 2nd screen, I did not update the firmware, and so I'm still able to disable the internal speakers without muting the line out jack port.
To fix the issue on the 1st screen, I tried to find a way to downgrade the firmware to the original version, but I could not find the file on the internet, so I'm stuck. Fortunately I don't use audio line out at work. Maybe Dell can provide this file? Or maybe I can extract it from the 2nd screen?
For those who didn't upgrade the firmware, here is how you can use the line out port and disable built-in speakers =
- On Windows go to the sound settings and select "Echo Cancelling Speakerphone" as audio output device, then turn the volume down to 0. This will disable internal speakers
- Then change audio output device: choose "DELL S2722DZ" instead of "Echo Cancelling Speakerphone". This will allow you to use only the line out port and adjust the volume from Windows
- To have a good sound quality, go into "DELL S2722DZ" output sound device settings and disable "Audio enhancements" (switch from "Device effects" to "off")
I hope this will help you, and I hope Dell will publish a firmware update to fix this issue, or allow us to downgrade the firmware by providing us the M3T101 file.

Like you, all we can do is check the S2722DZ drivers page. M3T101 was never made available. As to how to extract it from the other monitor, I have no idea?

thanks so much @lmichelin for your post - I was thinking that I've gone crazy, but no - it all makes sense now. unfortunately, i only have the one monitor and it's such a pain in the back to use it now with both internal speakers and the line-out no longer being separate.
