S3221QS, backlight flashing or flickering FIXED!
Dell S3221QS
Skip to the bottom for the solution. I thought I would share how to stop this monitor from having the backlight flicker or flashing. I bought this monitor for the curve, 32", 4K, and the color for my games. I use it on DP with an Alienware 14 with a 3080.
I was about to take it back, since I tried every monitor setting and it would have the backlight flicker, almost like a really bad auto dim or auto contrast feature. I searched a lot and no one had a answer, some said turn off the DDC which did nothing, others said turn the brightness all the way down which wasn't a solution.
The problem was I turned on G-Sync for my SamsungLC32G7 240 1440 monitor, which turns it on for the S3221QS too. That is what made the monitor flicker, so apparently G-Sync cannot be turned on for just one monitor. I have to shut it off when I play games that I want 4K and good picture quality over smoothness. There is no setting I found to disable G-Sync in the monitor, which I never seen in a monitor before. Usually they all have a shut off for it. Anyways hope that helps you. This S3221QS has excellent colors, it's as good as a OLED cx lg. Now the ghosting, and response times are bad like real bad, but I bought it specifically for the color, VA panel, and 4K 10 bit 60hz so I wasn't expecting it to be as good as the G7 in ghosting, and response.

I figured out that the really bad ghosting was caused by me putting the response time to extreme. I do have a rx550 I can try later to see if that was the problem. I am gonna assume from what you said, that it will not have the flicker on a amd rx550.

I should add, I missed a check box in gync , if you un check it, it will not enable gsync on the dell.

The S3221QS is advertised as an AMD FreeSync monitor that does not have Nvidia G-Sync support.
For Nvidia G-Sync to work on the Samsung monitor, G-Sync had to be turned on in both the Samsung monitor AND the Nvidia Control Panel, which causes the issue.
We would be curious to see if the ghosting and response times issues are eliminated if you test the S3221QS using an AMD FreeSync video card.

Replaced my display port cable with an 8K display port cable to resolve the flickering issue.
