S3221QS, does not work with M series Apple computers!
Dell S3221QS
The Dell S3221QS does NOT work with M series Macs. Period.
It doesn't matter what firmware the monitor is on.
It doesn't matter what Mac OS you are on.
It doesn't matter if it's an HDMI cable or USB-C to DP.
It doesn't matter what kind of cable or what quality you use.
It doesn't matter what settings your monitor has.
It doesn't matter what settings you Mac has.
If you buy the S3221QS to use with a Mac, you WILL experience screen flickering, and vertical lines, and other issues.
I've wasted my money on this monitor AND on 3 different cables and adapters. Do not fall for support telling you to buy another cable! You will waste even more money on something that won't work.
Dell should frankly be ashamed of this product.

There do seem to be issues with the non-supported macOS. We can see from the Pinned posts, "Dell monitor, Apple FAQ", that the following Dell monitors are fully supported with macOS. Notice none of them are from the S series =
C2422HE, C2423H, C2722DE, C2723H, C3422WE
U2421E, U2422H, U2422HE, U2422HX, U2520D, U2520DR, U2720Q, U2720QM, U2722D, U2722DE, U2722DX, U2723QE, U2723QX, U3023E, U3219Q, U3223QE, U3223QZ, U3421WE, U3821DW, U4021QW, U4320Q
UP2720Q, UP3221Q
See these S3221QS post on the Apple Forum.

Dell policy also states that any USA or Canada purchaser has up to 30 days from the date on the packing slip or invoice to return the S3221QS for refund.
