* What Dell laptop model? * Does this happen when NOT doing Pixel Refresh and simply turning the S3225QC Off, then back On?
* Presence Detection seen in some Dell monitors requires an add-in component module for its built-in webcam. The S3225QC does not feature a built-in webcam. The S3225QC only has Position Sensor which is not a webcam.
@DELL-ChrisM2 the laptop is a Dell Plus 16 PB16250.
I can confirm the same behaviour if I switch the display off and on again - no charging until I replug into the laptop.
I understand the camera on the camera cannot be used as a webcam, but regardless there is a camera there. It can detect position so its also safe to assume it can detect presence. It seems like a huge missed opportunity not to have the feature if the hardware is capable of it, especially on an OLED monitor which will eventually suffer from burn in.
PB 16250 TB4/USB-C port --> S3225QC 1.0 m USB-C to USB-C cable --> S3225QC middle USB-C upstream port
* Open the S3225QC Menu --> Input Source * Change Auto Select to Off * Check select USB-C 90W * Change Options for USB-C to Always Switch * Exit the S3225QC Menu and retest powering off, then on
Unfortunately that did not resolve the issue - however while trying turning the monitor on and off a few times, I noticed on the second "reset" the monitor starts charging the laptop as expected. This happens regardless of the settings, so I still think it may be a firmware issue.
