SDHC and 3007WFP

Can somebody please tell me where I can get a firmware update for the card reader on the 3007wfp? I need it to be able to read SDHC cards.

I do not want to get another card reader - I want the one in this monitor to work.

If there is no firmware available or planned - could somebody at Dell please explain to me why? You were happy enough to take over £1000 away from me for the monitor, and SDHC cards were around when I purchased. So either you don't give a stuff about your customers or you are stupid enough to use a non-flashable card reader when you knew full well that a new card specification was in use.

* There is not one. The Card Reader Specifications have always NOT had SDHC.

* Not for SDHC.

* The Card Reader Specifications were posted in the User Manual before it went for sale. Why would you assume these specifications would change years later?

wow - that reply was curt to the point of rudeness.

The card reader in the 3007wfp is the ONLY card reader I have come across that apparently cannot be flashed to support SDHC. There is no intrinsic hardware differences between SD and SDHC readers - it is simply a matter of firmware.

Could you please inform me of the manufacturer of the card reader - perhaps they could be more forthcoming.

Given the high-end nature of this product I would have expected it to be future-proofed, rather than allowing it to esentially become obsolete because of facile thinking. Even allowing the card reader to be swapped out would have shown some thought on this.

In answer to your final point - I expect the specifications to change because specifications change all the time and manufacturers release firmware updates to fix bug and improve functionality (imagine how the motherboard market would fare if BIOS was not flashable, if you wanted to upgrade your CPU, you'd have to buy a new motherboard!)

As a final point - please remember that your customers are the reason why your company continues to exist.

I was reponding to the tone presented in your post. There are no plans to add a different card reader to this model. SDHC was added to the newer model 3008WFP. Once a monitor is released, we do not have teams to future proof it. Those engineers move on to currently selling and upcoming monitors.
