Serial number via EDID, full serial not returned

Hello,

On our monitors at work, the serial number (printed on the back of the monitor) is in the following format:

CN-0FF765-XXXXX-33Q-0771  (made up for this example).

The serial number returned in the EDID info is this:

FF76533Q0771

My question is what number is the "XXXXX" (batch number ?) and why isn't it returned ?.
Also what does the "CN" mean ?.  We would like to use software inventory, but don't understand why the full serial number isn't returned.

Thanks.
Rob.

Has any progress been made on this question?  We have the same problem in that our hardware inventory tools return the cropped serial number from EDID; which doesn't match the s/n label on the back of the monitor.  Any chance the CN-0 or the XXXXX part of the serial number are elsewhere within EDID that we can retrieve?

Thanks.
