So, 2005fpw video card question.

Hello,
I hate to pester you with questions about video cards; i know they are listed.

So, i called tech support and asked if my Powercolor 256ddr Radeon 9600 Pro would work with the widescreen. After speaking with the gentleman for a moment, and confirming that i am using a desktop computer, he told me it would work just fine.

I checked my catalyst and windows settings, both show the 1680 x 1050 resolution as an option.

As I know options don't always mean they will work. So after being assured it would work, and ordering, i want to triple check. (The more I research the card, the more I have doubts; I haven’t seen anywhere stating if it does or if it doesn’t.)

Here is a link to the card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814131227

Thank you for your time,
acluguy

I couldn't find a website that specifically listed the resolutions supported by that card for some odd reason. However, your biggest clue would be the fact that - as you noted yourself - the needed resolution is already shown as an option for you.

So, based on that, then I'd say you'd be fine as well.

Hi if you click on the monitor that you want and scroll to the bottom of the page  you can click on to see if your dell system and graphics card is compatble with this monitor,  when it goes to the next page click on widescreen tab  it gives you information on the cards.

Thanks for all the help, it's greatly appreciated.

I came to the conclusion that, since i will be buying a new computer in the next six months: I would just buy a new computer today; I asked Dell to credit my computer purchase with the cost of the monitor.

They kindly obliged and I won’t have an issue with the video card in the computer I purchased.

So, thank you all again,

I did want to let everyone know that i got the monitor before the computer and the monitor runs just fine on the Powercolor 9600 Pro 256 DDR AGP4/8x.

The list also doesn't show the x600, but as it has been discussed here: that also works just fine.

Take care all,
ACLUguy

Post Script: This monitor is awesome, no backlight problems. I couldn't be more happy.
